Loosing the Baby Weight — Nichole's Personal Story

I get asked about this a lot lately and I have been sitting with how to talk about it, because the honest answer is not a clean list of tips and it is not a dramatic transformation story. It is just real life — messy, chaotic, humbling real life — and some very small shifts that finally added up to something big.

So here it is.

First I Had to Understand Why

You hear us say this a lot in a coaching setting a lot but it’s really a thing. Before anything changed on the outside I had to get honest about what was actually going on. For me a huge piece of the puzzle was weaning my son Levi last spring. I know that sounds counterintuitive — most people assume breastfeeding helps you lose weight. For me it did the opposite. I was hungry constantly and my eating habits suffered badly for it. I was eating far too much and not paying a lot of attention to what.

When I stopped breastfeeding it took several months for my appetite to regulate. Once I got real about that — once I stopped fighting my body and started understanding it — I could actually start making adjustments. That shift in perspective changed everything. Understanding the why gave me somewhere to start.

One or Two Things at a Time — That's It

Here is the thing about me: I get overwhelmed easily. Always have. I can have either the attention span of a gold fish or a dog at a bone and I don’t get to pick which one . The idea of overhauling everything at once is a guaranteed way to get me to do nothing at all.

So I did not do that. I focused on one or two habits at a time and let them stick before I added anything else. First it was getting real about my portions now that I was no longer breastfeeding. Then it was meal prep — because my schedule is genuinely chaotic and I am a chronic meal skipper. Having healthy grab-and-go snacks on hand and meals that were already prepped meant I was not making desperate decisions when I was already starving and exhausted. If someone forgot to pull out dinner there was a back up in the freezer. If my brain decided we just noped out of the meal we’d been hyper fixated on for the past week or two there was a back up ready and waiting to swap in.

I also have a three year old, a thirteen year old, and a sixteen year old, which means whatever I am eating has to work for them too. I do not have the time or the budget to make separate meals. So everything had to be family-friendly — and it was. That forced me to get creative in ways I actually enjoyed.

What Actually Shifted

Over the summer and into fall I found myself naturally gravitating toward a lot of fruit-based dishes. I leaned into it. I cut back significantly on meat at dinner. I gave myself a lot of grace on the hard days and did not let one bad week become a reason to quit.

In the fall I added the B12 and MIC fat burner injections — not as a magic fix but as a tool to help what I was already doing go further. And that is exactly what they did. I also added in gentle movement alongside things that genuinely challenged me and things that made me feel good about myself — because that part matters too.

The weight started to move.

Where I Am Now

As of now I am down not just to pre-three-year-old but pre-thirteen-year-old. I feel more like myself than I have in a very long time. More confident. More grounded. Not because I did everything perfectly — I absolutely did not — but because I stopped waiting until I could do it all at once and just started with one small thing.

If you are in the thick of it right now I want you to know that your story has its own why too. Understanding it is the first step. And you do not have to figure it all out at once.

If you want support on your own journey our nutrition team at Health and Healing Studios is here for exactly this — the real, messy, non-linear kind of wellness. Come talk to us.
